Crypton Future Media has announced “HATSUNE MIKU EXPO 2021 Online,” and will be launching an accompanying crowdfunding campaign in mid-November of 2020. The campaign will aim to fund a free online concert experience to reach fans across the world even as events in real spaces are restricted.
“HATSUNE MIKU EXPO” is the international live concert series featuring Hatsune Miku, which celebrated its 5th anniversary in 2019. It has so far traveled to 30 cities across the world, performing 68 shows and gathering a grand total of 190,000 people overall. The latest tour in the series, “HATSUNE MIKU EXPO 2020 USA & Canada,” was planned for April and May of 2020 but was ultimately cancelled after two postponements. Although not intended as a direct replacement, the cancellation of the tour was a major factor in the planning of MIKU EXPO 2021 Online.
In order to have this live show reach as many fans as possible, MIKU EXPO 2021 Online will be streamed for free (platform TBA) and will be funded via a crowdfunding campaign. We hope that those with the means to do so will help to build the concert into a special experience for everyone around the world.
Additionally, as with past “MIKU EXPO” tours, sub events and workshops will also be held online if the concert reaches its funding goals. Details on the crowdfunding campaign such as backer rewards will be revealed at a later date.
Crypton will continue to watch the social situation, and to create contents for all to enjoy.
